UCD will have to wait until another year to lift the Irish Intervarsity Pool trophy after losing out at the quarter final stage to UL yesterday.

The UCD A team started strongly topping their group with two wins and two draws. They then beat a good DIT A team in the last 16 on Sunday morning, but lost to UL A in a very tight match that just didn't go their way.

The B team qualified for the knock-out stages by finishing second in their group which but lost out to former champions DkIT in the last 16. Unfortunately the UCD C team were knocked out at the group stages.

Dundalk's Benny Traynor won the individual event with a stunning performance and NUIG were deserving winners in the team event, beating University of Ulster Coleraine in the final 8-6.

Overall the results were a bit disappointing for UCD after last years successes but nonetheless all involved had an enjoyable weekend.
