Thompson beats Meaney to take Masters Title

Joe Thompson won the UCD Masters last Wednesday night beating Ross Metcalfe, Lorcan Kavanagh and Kevin Meaney along the way.

Ross won the plate competition, beating Oliver Mobasser in the final.

With the double ranking points for the Masters the ranking list is now tied at the top, with Thompson and Sheehy on 72 points and 72 frames each. 

Who will come out on top in the last ranking tournament of the year, The UCD Pool Championships scheduled for Wednesday the 4th of April.

Joe Thompson and Ger Sheehy won the UCD Scotch Doubles beating Lorcan Kavanagh and Johnny Kelly in the final.
The plate was won by Oliver Mobasser and Ross Metcalfe.

What's Another Year!

UCD will have to wait until another year to lift the Irish Intervarsity Pool trophy after losing out at the quarter final stage to UL yesterday.

The UCD A team started strongly topping their group with two wins and two draws. They then beat a good DIT A team in the last 16 on Sunday morning, but lost to UL A in a very tight match that just didn't go their way.

Mean Performance Wins Shootout

February 6, 2012
Kevin Meaney made it two in a row last week by winning the UCD Pool Shootout.

The tournament was a double elimination event with each match consisting of one frame only.

Beaten in the earlier stages Kevin battled through the losers bracket to reach the final where he met an unbeaten Lorcan Kavanagh.

Kevin beat Lorcan twice in a row with a stunning performance to take the title.

Meaney wins first event of the new year

January 19, 2012
Kevin Meaney won the first tournament of 2012 last night.

He gave a strong performance dropping not a single frame until the final where he beat Joe Thompson 4-2.

Semi-finalists were Lorcan Kavanagh who lost to Thompson and Ger Sheehy, no.1 seed.

Ross Metcalfe won the Plate Tournament with Alex Nolan as runner-up.

The 9-ball Tournament at The Palace, Camden Street, Doubles Tournament and a Poker Night.

Disappointment for UCD at the snooker intervarsities

November 28, 2011


UCD were knocked out at the quarter finals stage of the snooker intervarsities on Saturday last.
One of UCD's players failed to attend which was a bad start to the weekend.
Being beaten by IT Tallaght 6 frames to 3 ended a disappointing weekend overall for the UCD team.

In the group stages UCD beat DIT 'B', drew with UUJ and lost out to QUB 'A', leaving us in second place in group C

UCD beat NCI convincingly in first league outing

November 28, 2011
UCD had a very strong home win in the student bar on 14th November.

The first CUSAI league match was against NCI 'B' team which UCD won 18 frames to 2.

Teams consist of five players and each player plays four from the opposing team making 20 frames in total.

The next match is away to Dundalk IT 'A', a strong team and former intervarsity champions.

Curley wins UCD Pool Open II

November 28, 2011
Michael Curley won the UCD Open II on the 16th Of November. He beat Ger Sheehy 4-2 in the final.

Curley narrowly beat Joe Thompson in his semi-final 3 frames to 2, after a tense decider. 
The other semi-finalist was the number 2 seed, Lorcan Kavanagh.

Curley, Again!!

November 14, 2011
The fifth and sixth ranking tournaments were won by Michael Curley, again.

In the UCD Challenge Curley beat Lorcan Kavanagh in the final with a 3-0 scoreline. 
Semi-finalists were Kevin Meaney and Shane Flanagan.


In the Grand Prix Curley came up against Joe Thompson in the final. 
Curley won a close match 4-2 with a nice clearance in the last. 
Semi-finalists were Lorcan Kavanagh and David Wu.
