Important Rules:

The Rack

The balls are racked for World Rules as shown on the right.

Fouls

The punishment for a foul is two visits to the incoming player. These shots carry right up to the black. Yes! a player can have two shots on the black.

Potting the white

If the white is potted the incoming player has two visits and can play from anywhere in baulk (behind the line) and in any direction (including backwards!)

Deliberate Fouls

Deliberate Fouls are allowed under the rules.

Jump shots

Jump shots are illegal. If the cueball jumps over another ball it would have otherwise hit intentionally or accidendally it is a foul.

The Break

The white is played from anywhere behind the baulk line.

For a fair break four different balls must contact a cushion. If not the balls are re-racked and the other player breaks and has two visits.

If the white is potted on the break it is not a foul and the incoming player has one visit.

If the white leaves the table, it is a foul break and the incoming player has two visits.

If the black is potted on the break, the frame is not won. The balls are re-racked and the same player breaks.

If nothing is potted from the break shot play continues with the first legally potted ball deciding colours.

If any coloured ball is potted, the player must nominate a colour before their next shot. He/she can nominate either colour even if they haven't potted one of this colour.

If the player nominates a colour that was potted on the break he/she is on that colour regardless of what happens next.

If the player nominates a colour that wasn't potted on the break they must pot one of that colour to be on that colour. If they miss their next shot the incoming player has an open table.

Hitting a cushion

On every shot if a ball is not potted a ball (white, red, yellow or black) must hit a cushion AFTER the white makes contact with an object ball.

The cushion rule does not apply if the player is totally snookered on all balls on. He must declare "Total Snooker" and make sure the referee/other player agrees before this rule applies.
